Carol Parenzan is passionate about our Pennsylvania waterways.

As a young child, she searched for minnows and salamanders in her backyard woods and visited fisheries around the state. As a teen, she paddled hundreds of miles along the banks of the Susquehanna and her tributaries. As a college student, she studied environmental engineering with a focus on water at Penn State. As a homeschooling mom with her daughter, Elise, she explored miles of trails, turned over many rocks, listened to the music of waterfalls, and flew with the eagles from vistas overlooking the river valley. As an environmental educator, she has shared her passion for protecting our natural treasures, such as our state’s watersheds, through the creation of over 30 creative nonfiction children’s books and the delivery of hundreds of STEM programs. Today, she is the licensed voice of our river, serving as the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper, a position through which she champions clean water for an 11,000-square mile watershed that is defined by the North and West Branches of the Susquehanna River and her tributaries so that every resident of and visitor to our area can have swimmable, drinkable, fishable (and paddle-able) water. Carol is 1 of more than 300 Waterkeeper Alliance-licensed keepers around the world on 6 continents in 36 countries.

You can find out more about her at http://www.middlesusquehannariverkeeper.org/

As well you can follow her on Facebook

You can also contact Carol Parenzan by email if you would like.

She is working hard with the great people on the Middle Susquehanna as the Riverkeeper but she is also going to be doing some great things for the ACA-PA. Welcome Carol. I got to hang out with her on the Susquehanna in a Sunrise to Sunset Paddle not to long ago and this is a video I made of the day.
